Get to Know My Roommates!

Just for fun, I thought I would do a roommate post, and describe my roommates for all of you!

Courtney: I met Courtney first at Resonate, my Church, and got to know her through a small group at Resonate called "Village." Courtney grew up in Pullman, WA and lived at home during her freshman year of college. That was always fun because I remember spending the night at Courtney's house once while drinking chocolate milkshakes and watching Lost together! It was also nice to sleep in a house instead of a dorm. Courtney is blonde and a real cutie- but boys don't bother because she has been dating JD for almost two years! I love Courtney's sense of adventure and spontaneity. She is always up for anything, and has so graciously allowed me to let her friends also become my friends. We had a blast going to Portland together just last month for Thanksgiving break to visit her friend Micah. Me and Courtney were the only girls on the road trip so we had to stick together :) We shared a futon, were "getting ready buddies", and somehow managed to navigate our way through the city to the nearest mall. I love you Court!

Dana- I first met Dana in our ballroom dance class freshman year. We quickly hit it off, and started hanging out outside of class with some of our other dance friends. Dana is beautiful and red headed, and IS single, so boys get at her if you are a good boy! I am going to filter Dana's boys more carefully though because one time I did set her up on a blind date that didn't go so well. Sorry about that Dana ;) Me and Dana have A LOT of the same interests which include: Make-up, hair, eating healthy, working out, fashion, Jesus,PEANUT BUTTER, and volunteering. This semester me and Dana were "Pen Friends" which are volunteers that write letters back and forth with first graders in the Pullman school district. It has been so much fun reading our kids' letters together- I have a little boy who can barely spell, and Dana has the perfect little girl who curls her letters and writes very neatly. Too funny! I have definitely enjoyed getting closer to Dana this semester, and hope that we will have many more fun memories to come!

Katie- Katie was Dana's roommate last year, and that's how I got to know her! One memory that will always be an inside joke between me and Katie is when I was trying to cook rice but didn't really know how apparently. I was sitting over the stove, stirring the rice with the lid off, but Katie quickly laughed at me and said I was supposed to put the cover on, and NOT stir the rice so it could absorb the water. Oh well! Katie is a VERY talented musician, and plays the guitar and sings. She has a beautiful voice, and is a real heartbreaker with the men. It's my job to be her bodyguard. I love when she sings and plays her guitar because I just love to listen to her! She is always doing school talent shows, and has sung the National Anthem at two WSU Basketball games. Talk about a big crowd!! I had loved talking to Katie because she is so smart and seems to know so much about the world. I have no doubt that she is going to be an amazing nurse someday.

I love all three of these ladies and have been so blessed to share an apartment with them this year!

Winter Break!!

10 Days Until Winter break! I am extremely looking forward to it. These next ten days will be filled with presentations, lab reports, Cumulative finals, art projects, and studying, studying and more studying! Phew. I will be so ready to go home.

My roommates and I have been getting in the Christmas spirit by decorating our apartment with garland, stockings, red ribbons, and a mini Christmas tree complete with pink Christmas lights! We play Christmas music pretty much 24/7 and have been watching the 25 Days of Christmas on ABC. Last night was Elf- pretty much the best Christmas movie in history. Also, my roommate Dana bought us a Hot chocolate maker, and I bought us Gingerbread marshmellows, shaped like little gingerbread men! So it has kind of been a nightly tradition that we drink hot chocolate and watch Christmas movies every night (with a little bit of studying thrown in there!).

But what I am looking forward to when I get back to Puyallup for the Christmas season is the Ugly Christmas Sweater Party that my sister Adria and I are throwing! I have never been to an Ugly Christmas Sweater Party before so just decided to throw one! I am so excited to see everyone's funny Christmas sweaters, and just catch up with a lot of friends that I haven't seen since summer.

Another favorite Christmas-time tradition of mine is going to the Pioneer Place Mall in downtown Seattle and watching the "snow" fall from the ceiling. It looks so realistic! My family has gone the past couple of years, and for some reason it is just one of my favorite parts of Christmas! If you have never been, I highly encourage you to go.

A closing quote that I saw on a friend's twitter account today is this : "The most dangerous element to your dream is your back up plan. Toss it or else you'll use it.”

Enjoy your Christmas!
