Meeting Miss Washington!

I recently met with Miss Washington 2010, Jacquie Brown. My Daffodil Princess coordinator helped Jacquie with pageant prep before she competed at Miss America on January 15. We went to Forza coffee shop in Puyallup and talked for about two hours. I was so impressed by how eloquent, poised, and intelligent Jacquie was! When she started telling her story about enduring abuse when she was younger, and moving out at 16 years old, I was captivated and surprised at how far she has come. From being abused as a child to an empowered beauty queen going to Miss America, she is really a role model for everyone to look up to. Jacquie is a spokesperson for Camp Mariposa and is involved in a youth mentoring program called Lunch Buddies. Both of these accomplishments inspired me to get involved in the community and help out other people in some way. In January, at the Miss America pageant, Jacquie placed third runner-up, which, for those of you who don’t know pageants, is VERY GOOD! She also won a $15,000 scholarship for her placement.
